Purpose

We acknowledge that as an organisation fighting for a collective feminist future, Chayn needs to be diligent about the decisions we make in accepting funding. We have a responsibility to act in the best interests of Chayn’s purpose as set out in our Articles of Association. Charities have to weigh up the potential positive and negative consequences to make a judgement call about what will be in the organisation’s best interests. The policy’s purpose is to define our decision-making process and act as a guide for seeking and accepting funding.

The following people are required to act in accordance with this policy:

Chayn’s Responsibilities

According to the Institute of Fundraising “Donations to charities should only be refused in exceptional circumstances. This means that, when deciding whether to refuse a donation or grant, we must only do so if to accept it would be more detrimental to the charity being able to achieve its objectives than rejecting it. Making this decision should involve a careful analysis of the risks of accepting of funding, balancing this against the benefit that will be obtained. These matters should be decided on a case by case basis. Funding should only be rejected in exceptional circumstances, when:

Employee and Volunteer Responsibilities

All funding decisions must be approved by Chayn’s Board of Trustees. An employee or volunteer must inform the Board of Trustees when:
