Chayn has a mission to reach 1 million survivors of gender-based violence with our resources, products and services. We’re looking for someone to work alongside our Head of Comms to deliver social media and comms support in line with our brand new comms strategy.
This role is ideal for a social media and/or comms professional with a global lens, has a passion for engagement with survivors of gender-based violence, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You will be responsible for repurposing content, producing high-quality social media posts, and supporting community-building efforts.
Responsibilities
As the Comms and Community Coordinator at Chayn, you will focus your efforts on creating survivor-centered, survivor-led content for social media that helps drive engagement, reach and most importantly helps survivors find our content.
The primary platforms you will coordinate will be Instagram, TikTok and Facebook with some support with Twitter, LinkedIn and Medium.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Utilising social media to reach 1 million survivors
- Using content from our products for social media to help us reach a wider audience
- Creating and developing engaging content for Instagram and other platforms
- Translating the overall comms strategy into compelling social media content and take ownership of our social media channels.
- Helping to develop and maintain our social media content calendar.
- Developing Google Ads and Meta Ads content with some coordination.
- Monitoring and reporting on trending content to assist in content creation and development.
- Staying on top of social media trends and pitching ideas to increase engagement.
- Coordinating social media campaigns with the Head of Comms as required.
- Creating video content with and for survivors that is relatable, informative and supportive.
- Developing a survivor-focused signature series that utilises video content to engage and support survivors
- Editing videos - both long and short form - and optimising them for social media consumption
- Working with our team, our community of volunteers and our 1-1 messaging team who directly support our users, to produce and publish video content
- Build an engaged and active community on social media which supports our movement building work.
- Engaging with and maintaining conversations with our community across social platforms.
- Writing engaging, insightful copy for captions, blog posts, website, newsletters, and other content, when needed. .
- Supporting community-building activities, including event administration and outreach.
- Engage with feedback from our volunteer network to ensure the work is survivor focused and trauma-informed.
- Organise, schedule and post content during our attendance at key advocacy events and activities; 16 Days of Activism, Commission on the Status of Women and Sexual Assault Awareness Month are great ones to work towards and speak to key issues.
- Support the creation of newsletter content and grow and engage our subscriber list.
- Providing general administrative support to ensure smooth execution of comms and community building elements
Your profile
We are looking for an experienced comms and/or social media professional who is passionate about survivor-led comms and bringing our resources to a global audience.
It’s important that all team members have an understanding of intersectionality and systems of oppression and an affinity with Chayn’s aims and organisational values which can be found here.
